Happy New Year! It's the first week, and since it's less than a full week, this would be a good time to finish off books you started last year. Yes, just-started, half- and nearly-read books count toward this years' list.
Once you've finished a book, sound off here! Happy reading.
The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry: Love, Laughter, and Tears at the World’s Most Famous Cooking School by Kathleen Flinn - Completed 1/2/2008
I really enjoyed this. She included plenty of personal information that left me feeling like I was right there with her.. and some good recipes as well!
The Thirteenth Tale by Diana Setterfield, completed 1/3/2008.
This was a great read -- made greater if you love (or at least have read) classic Gothic novels. I don't usually try to figure out the mysteries in books because I like to just read the story, but oftentimes the answers and endings are somewhat obvious. This one, though? This one had a twist or two I didn't account for (again, not a big feat for an author, since I've never ever figured out an episode of Scooby Doo), which kept me interested until the very end.
If you're going to read this, make sure you've read Jane Eyre.
This one started out all well and good with plenty of characterization, description, and dialog, but lost it a bit towards the end. The action and suspense overshadowed the relationship building while the character's refusal to overcome past hurts hindered it for me. Action, suspense, romance, and Feng Shui.
