Male authors and historical romances?

I've mentioned North River in another forum, but it's relevant here. Pete Hamill wrote a lovely romance storyline in this book--one of the best I've seen a man write. Which makes me wonder if I'm missing out on more guys writing good, realistic romance. Any thoughts?
